Evaluating the clinical effectiveness of telerehabilitation during the pandemic

Authors: Ahmed, L.1, Tucker, P.2

Affiliations: University of Bristol UK1; Recolo UK Ltd2

In this MSc study we assessed the clinical effectiveness of our rehabilitation over lockdown by surveying parents’ and clinicians’ views and analysing the outcome data of the children and young people we treated in the year before COVID (2019) and the first year of COVID (2020). Rehabilitation was delivered face to face in the first year, and mainly online in the second year. Preferences of mode of delivery were expressed but there were no significant differences between the periods on clinical outcome measures.

What’s in the black box of rehabilitation? Towards an intervention taxonomy: a mixed-methods study within a child neurorehabilitation service

Authors: Walden, C.1, Tucker, P.2

Affiliations: University of Bristol UK1; Recolo UK Ltd2

The International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) was designed to provide an everyday tool for reporting and analysing health interventions throughout healthcare settings, including rehabilitation (WHO, 2019). This MSc study trialled ICHI codes within our child neuropsychological rehabilitation service. Interviews and ease-of-use ratings were collected suggest coding is a good idea but this framework needs more development to be useful in our setting.
